How I spent labor Day (Or how I almost committed suicide)

Yes, another post about me venting and not about what we should be discussing (BEER)!

But venting before enjoying a great beer or well made cocktail is paramont in preventing becoming an angry drunk:)

Let me take you back to this past Saturday. I was emailing and following up on some shirt requests here at sudsgear.com. While surfing the net my internet explorer 8 blew up. I thought, and all the techies at the all the high tech companies where I bout stuff thought, that either Windows 7 had issues, or my antivirus program had a problem, or my laptop was actually dying. Couldn't view pictures, video, and most of the time couldn't even see graphics on webpages. I should have closed my laptop and went to the beach... No, I thought let's get this fixed THEN enjoy the labor day weekend. 8 hours later the wonderful folks at ** told me that I had to re-install windows. That's sucks because re-installing all my programs and backing-up and reinstalling all my files was a nightmare. So I stopped working Saturday night after trouble shooting all day what the problem is.

Sunday: wake up early, back-up all my files, reinstall Windows, test explorer... BOOM. nothing changed. Like before I can surf the web but cant download anything (invalid digital signatures WTF), graphics, pics, and video all screwed up. I spend all day trying to figure this out.

BTW, had my cable modem tested and the cable company tech support could find no wrong on my internet connection itself...

I give up again after 10 hours, resigned to send my laptop back to ** (its under warranty), and do with out for a couple of weeks while they try to fix it.

Monday (Labor day) go to another location to just check a few things online still determined to enjoy Labor Day. Bring another laptop back with me home since I'm sending my laptop to **. When I log on with the new laptop exactly the same problem!

You ever hear of the KISS principle? Keep It Simple Stupid... Apparently even though the router was providing internet connectivity, it was doing it in such a way that IE didn't like. So with a paper clip I pushed the reset button on the router and wada ya know... problem solved. Funny how the reset button on a router is so small you need a magnfying glass to see it. So I spent all day today reinstalling programs, trying to remember passwords, and restoring my data files.... WHAT BITCH OF A LABOR DAY WEEKEND......

UGGG!

Well thanks for letting me vent... time for a pour!

Cheers
